Just outside Horncastle, on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds, lies the estate which was the family home of Sir Joseph Banks. He became known as one of the world’s greatest  plant hunters, and it is hardly surprising that there is a keen interest  in all manner of plants in the local area. It is fortunate, too, that there has long been a series of art classes taken by Jan Hill, a very well respected and talented tutor, which has appealed to beginners and experienced painters alike.

A few years ago a small number of artists realised that they all shared an interest in botanical painting, and decided to meet regularly to stimulate this interest. This has led to the following exhibitions of their work:

  • 2006    Horncastle College
  • 2008    Sir Joseph Banks Centre, Horncastle
  • 2009    The Manor House, Alford
  • 2010    The Carre Gallery, Sleaford
  • 2010    The Library, Woodhall Spa
  • 2011     Holy Trinity Church, Tattershall
  • 2013     Included in the Louth Festival of Bees

The ‘Artists’ section includes some examples of their work, and most of the paintings have been offered for sale. The artists have also had  cards and notelets made from a selection of their work, and this site will be developed to allow visitors to view a variety of the ones on offer.
